System Introduction

The CALMET module requires input numerous hourly observation data of meteorological ground stations, including wind speed, winddirection, temperature, cloud-base height, cloud cover, air pressure and relative humidity. In CALMET, ground station data files (SURF.DAT) can be established in two ways.

The first method is to write the required data according to a given format, which can be used when data volume is small.

The second is to establish by SMERGE meteorological pre-processor. SMERGE pre-processor can be used to convert time-measured surface meteorological time series data into NCDC format, which is compatible with CALMET model. This method is suitable for many ground stations, where data volume is large.

Regarding to the second method, SMERGE meteorological pre-processor adopts C/S architecture and cannot support online CALMET surface meteorological data conversion service. Therefore, it is necessary to further integrate the SMERGE meteorological pre-processor based on B/S (browser/server architecture), including the integration of input files and operating parameters, the design and implementation of system control automatic operation mechanism, and the development of data storage and output interface, in order to achieve the online service function of CALMET surface meteorological data conversion.

Before using the data products provided by CALMET surface meteorological data conversion system, the user needs to make a registration application to the CALMET system team, and submit specified materials and accept all terms of the user agreement. The system administrator will review the registration application and assign the user permission if the application is approved. Then the user can fill in the order information and calculation parameter information as required. After the system completes the calculation, the user can search in completed orders and download the calculation result. The system administrator can manage users and orders in the background. The online computing and management process are shown in Figure 1. The technical support and management unit information of this system is shown in Table 1

Registration Application

Before using the data products provided by AERSURFACE online service system, the users need to fill in the registration information online and submit a registration application to AERSURFACE model team. Fill in application form and accept all terms of the user agreement, and then print out the application form, stamp it with official seal of organization, and mail it to the office of AERSURFACE team. The system administrator will review the registration application and assign the user permission if the application is approved.
